Well today is 8 weeks off his feet, but I'm here to say that today he was upright on his knees in bed and that's a start. I got some advice from a friend who is a physical therapist to tide us over until PT starts in home, so we added a couple of new things today. Coleman was all for them. He sat upright without support and did chest stretches with the band, he crawled across the bed a few times and then he decided to stand on his knees! It was great to see the accomplishment on his face and he did it by his own choice.
He is truly getting frustrated living in that bed and I swear I would have gone nuts myself by now, but I think the frustration is a form of fuel...whatever helps to ultimately drive him out of that bed is good by me. We just want to be safe with the progress.
Spen made a small start and picking up his schoolwork with my mom again today. He is more able to read again and she is going to write for him until his hands are back in the game. Let's just say he's less than thrilled and will probably be my mom's last student in many decades of educating kids...
Coleman is showing me a clip on You Tube of the flying wingsuit he wants to try WHEN he walks again.
So, I'm wondering if these suits have a special pocket for when I loose bladder control?!
Today I read about a King who made at least one good choice leading his people.
But you asked God for help and He gave you the victory.
God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to Him.
In this fast paced world, I feel like I'm committed to a lot of things...maybe too many. My commitments have definitely honed down to my family and I'm learning a new commitment or at least a new dependence on someone I've held at a comfortable distance for most of my life.
Maybe next Monday Coleman will be standing on more than his knees!
