Today was a great day around here. I spent some time with my mom this morning to make sure she knew what an exceptional mom she is, especially this year as she thinks about the mother she just lost. I find myself grateful for her willingness to help out in any way she's asked and to be supportive as we navigate uncharted waters. I gave her a card that has a glass case with a mom in it. The caption read "in case of emergency, break glass. So true these days.
My boys (all 3) have heard me talking with our practitioner and nurse about juicing for health. They gave me Jack LaLane's Power Juicer for Mother's Day and I had a ball making carrot, celery, and apple juices. I'm hoping Coleman will be able to drink some of these. One interesting (and healthy) thing that has struck me about his journey back to health is that he has only drunk plain water - no vitamin water, no Gatorade, no juice, just filtered water for the last 3 months. I know water is a key to life and it's the only liquid his body wants. He asked me to try some juice in the morning for him, so we'll see how he does. Yesterday he ate some fresh corn on the cob and steamed broccoli - so happy to see that.
Coleman had a really good day -his spirits were up, his energy was up, his humor was up and he did new things on the trampoline for me today. He actually ran in a circle on the outside edge of the trampoline for me - about four times round. I also noticed when we were walking today that he held on to me less and walked much more naturally.
Spence seemed to be feeling better today as well - he had a few days this week when he seemed to have a bit of a set-back after a good run of positive stuff. I guess those are to be expected, they just catch me off guard sometimes. He and I are going to work some this weekend on Pilgrim's Progress...trying to remember the plot...
Liz B., you were so kind to make Coleman's craving and you scored big time. He mowed through three bowls of spaghetti and I loved the salad and the boys had me make garlic bread. Tomorrow...the cupcakes. Thanks so much for going out of your way to bring it by - you made two happy families today - Happy Mother's Day to you!
Days like today should be bottled...juiced and bottled. Drink up if you have one of those days.
