House Calls

My grandmother tells stories of the mining camp doctor coming to their home to deliver her babies or to treat her children. Our society has come so far since then but sometimes getting back to the basics is exactly what we need. With all of Coleman's fear of docs, he did the bravest thing he could do today and that was to let Dr. Jones make a house call.

Coleman shared his feelings and let me show Dr. Jones the weakness in his legs. The fact that Dr. Jones has actually seen Coleman makes all his conversations with other docs more credible. He was hopeful and also had a conversation with Dr. Shoemaker today that made him feel a bit better about his prognosis.

About this time a year ago, Coleman and I took a mission trip to Scotland with Melanie, Dr. Jones' wife, so the connection helped. He also knows Dr. Jones as his church friend Aven's dad. We are so grateful that our church family is just that and that the good doctor still makes house calls.

  1. Dearest Mel,
I was looking at a photo of Coleman, just the other day, of him walking in the snow at the farmer's home in Scotland, who let us visit his yak (or whatever that large animal was called)...and was thinking how thankful I was that he was allowed to go on the that trip last year (regardless of his young age).
    Still praying...
