Late last night I spoke with the doctor in Florida who seems to specialize in not only mold illness but Lyme's disease and its associated bacterias. He has no reservations in saying that the photos of the marks on Coleman's legs are characteristic of Bartonella. He sent several ebooks and articles which I spent most of the day reading. The tricky thing about these bacterias is that they are hard to treat and harder to eradicate for good. It seems this is one of the only doctors who understands how tricky this testing is, how difficult the bacteria is to isolate and how challenging to medicate.
This doctor is highly published and found out about these illnesses because his two children were also very ill and he took them from doctor to doctor as well.
We talked extensively about different medications for Coleman and specifically meds that would allow him to actually make the trip to Naples, Florida where he is. Without a doubt, this is the part that concerns us the most, but without seeing him, he can't treat him. This doc is also a child psychiatrist which is a bonus as he understands the cognitive impairment that Lyme's disease can bring with it.
Today was a day of comparing our options - pros and cons. Tomorrow I will make some more calls and get some more answers that will help us to make some decisions. Coleman's day today was like most others on the couch. We watched some good movies and he played some video games. He is trying so hard to stay together and we'll be talking about some of this stuff with him within the next couple of days.
