I try to be careful when I evaluate good news - I just don't want to get my hopes up too much, but there is no denying that Coleman has begun to turn the corner today.
He woke smiling and said there were no bad dreams. He ate well again, as the carb king - two orders of Chick-Fil-A fries just a few minutes ago. He has laughed quite a bit with us today and even made some jokes that took some thinking. There are lots of gaps in his mind but we've had some good talks about next steps. He still can't be touched without pain, but is able to sit up in bed, hold his head up for a long while to sketch in his book. I have seen him smile more today than in the last several days.
I went out to a meeting today and felt more confident, no knots in the stomach and tomorrow I'm going to work a full day on a shoot, my first since his illness and he's good with it. There are bills to pay no matter the circumstances, right?
We have introduced some new products to stimulate neuron regrowth and hopefully that's part of the good turn. I spoke with the neurologist's nurse today to ask her to speak with me about Coleman's progress when she can.
We're still praying to see signs of God's hand because it's the reassurance we need to make decisions each day.
We're not out of the woods by any stretch, but we've on a path that will hopefully lead in that direction.
I'm signing off to the sound of Coleman laughing, really laughing at a movie...music to my ears!
P.S. Thanks to my buddy Mern for covering me and making my kitchen look like a craft services table - I'll be 3 sizes bigger when we get beyond this!
