Well Wishes

Still waiting today. We now have a phone consult appointment with Dr. Shoemaker this Friday - all labs should be back. It's like holding your breath underwater wondering what will be. There are the questions about Lymes and future implications both short and long term.

Coleman told me he feels weaker today. He did wake up hungry which is always a good sign. We constantly tell him how important he is to us and remind him of all his great qualities. Having been through what he has, he doesn't feel the same. We tell him we'll remember what he can't and we'll be his eyes and ears.

These photos are of some of the great cards the boys have received. We got another big envelope today in the mail from their friends at church. Thanks for all the creative work, they remind the boys who is waiting for them.

Spen is complaining of weakness in his hands. It feels only natural to say, "now come on, you can write", while you think he might be avoiding his schoolwork, but he hasn't drawn in two days which is unusual and this is the kind of weakness Coleman had in his feet at first. I'm glad we're getting Coleman's labs back this week, sometimes I don't feel like we have a lot of time to waste.

I've had some good email chains with Andrea Fabry, the mother from Colorado who is truly consumed by toxic mold illness. Just when you think you're carrying a heavy load, you meet someone who would gladly exchange loads with you. Here is a link to her blog.

  1. Hey Mel,

I hate what you are all going through. We have Coleman, Spenser and all of you in our nightly "special prayers". I hope you are through this nightmare soon and once the Dr.'s truely know what they are dealing with that both boys are headed for a speedy recovery.

    We love and miss you.

  2. I've been reading and praying for you all and will continue to do so! I don't know if the boys will know who I am (this is Julia from church), but please tell them I'm praying for them and thinking of them several times throughout the day, especially when doctors are involved and when fear creeps into their spirits. The Newsboys have a great song entitled "Stay Strong" that you might feel encouraged by, particularly the line, "there'll be no letting go [from God's grasp] today".
