Duck and Lemonade

Tonight we are giving a bit of air time to Spencer who has been singing his favorite new song top to bottom for two days. It's the Duck and Lemonade song.

Spen is adding more schoolwork each day, science is in the mix and he's able to work longer each stretch. I truly feel like he's going to be good as new before too long. You know how you can just tell when they are feeling more like themselves. If we can get his hands back in play, he'll be ready to tackle school again. At least for now, he's getting caught back up - he lost about a month in the process.

Coleman and I had a great day today. This Wii fit really keeps him on his feet longer and there are a couple of games where he stands for almost an hour straight. He and I also climbed a few stairs today. That is a combination of balance and strength that is the best challenge right now.

I remember when he first got really winded during this illness. We were walking up the stairs of a friend's front porch and he stopped halfway through because he was simply out of breath. So much of the doctor visits and one surgery was about his breathing. The pulmonologist really worked hard on his case (on both boys) and on our last visit he said how much of a mystery this was to him. Coleman's lungs were functioning at 60% then. I am sure his lung capacity is better, especially watching him jog in place with the game. The nurse says its better. We are going to get a home health measuring device so we can track it ourselves from day to day.

Big thanks to Paige and her family. I have never had the pleasure of meeting you, but you rank high in Jeff's book and we are grateful to you for coaching us through the environmental testing. Your delivery came today and the boys always get excited when the UPS truck comes. We'll look forward to cooking up those great meals...maybe Chef Jeff will do the honors. We appreciate your help and generosity. It reminds me how many people have lent their skills to us through this time.

We're about to turn in for the night and I'm watching Coleman fold dollar bills into a short sleeved shirt and pants to make a man. He has found so many things to help keep him busy here in our den. I'm grateful for everyone.

  1. I have to say that song is hilarious. My husband is learning it, so our daughter (almost three) loves to hear it.
