Jumping for Joy

Coleman has a big surprise for his physical therapist on Monday. He has talked about the trampoline a couple of times because she has suggested that he do some jumping.

Right before dinner he asked me to take him down to it and before we knew it he was on it and jumping. I have to say that this is the happiest I have seen him since this whole new life started. The most surprising thing was that he asked me to get on it and jump so it would help him jump. Now, if bouncing next to Big Mama doesn't make one nauseous I don't know what will. He had to wait a bit before he was ready to eat, but otherwise, his stomach was stable. That's the biggest deal to me. Once he started jumping, we literally couldn't get him to stop. We were a little nervous at first, but so happy for him. Just another step, or jump, in the right direction.

Spence and I have decided to track his hand abilities with some test drawings. He tries to draw something small and I put a date on it. It occurred to me that if we're encouraging Coleman to get on his feet to get his legs and feet working again, why aren't we encouraging Spen to draw and write to get his hands working again. He says it hurts some, but he seems to want to try. I hope that seeing his progress will inspire him.

Wheelers, thanks for the visit in the driveway and for some amazing pasta - the real thing. Your friendship is appreciated equally as much!

Today has really been good and I am grateful for it. A good day around here is not taken for granted especially when they end on a high note!

  1. Dear Cox family,

I "jumped for joy" when I saw the picture of Coleman on the tramp! You guys are a real inspiration. Sam and I follow your blog and I am truly amazed at your living testimony. We are currently unemployed, working on our "money pit" and I was feeling pretty low. Reading your trials made me feel really ashamed. Be assured that we are praying for your family everyday. We miss you so much-Mel you and your guitar singing your heart out for God, Jeff your humor and godly man person at cat club, Spencer, your sweet disposition at cats club and Sunday school, Coleman, I don't really know you accept for your Mom's blog but your courage is a blessing to everyone in your Stony Point family. Thanks so much for turning us on to Tim Hawkins. We really needed some laughter as we diligently slave on here at the Maryland house! Our love and prayers to you all. Can't wait for the day we see the 4 of you at Stony Point! Susan Palmer
