We're wrapping up a good day for Coleman. He turned 12 today and got his wish for an ice cream cake
and a transformer still on its way here on a slow boat from China. We also got him a 3 wheel scooter. Before he was sick he used to ride the Ripstick. This one is a three-wheeled ripstick with a handlebar. He rode it some today and its great for his legs. His grandmother got him a RC helicopter which was great fun until it had a few nosedives on the deck. His favorite thing was blowing up the world's biggest water balloon...the popping was more fun.
There are streamers still hanging in the den, balloons from his grandmother and he's had a great day. A different kind of birthday, but we all stayed home with him and he loved it.
He did some physical therapy today and shot some baskets.
I can't believe my boy is 12 and I wish he wasn't fighting these battles on his birthday, but it's also a day to be grateful to God for the gift of life and to celebrate the fact that he's getting back a little each day.
Maybe this time next year he'll be celebrating life in a full way with his family and friends, but for now, we have enjoyed being a birthday family this April 30.
