Today was just one of those days - I have to admit that I'm just out of emotional gas tonight. It was not unlike any other day that some of you might have had when things just didn't go like you planned or hoped. I think it's God's way of saying, "Keep it steady, between the lines, keep your eyes on the road." It's a reminder for me that this is no short ride around the block but a good long cross-country drive.
All is well tonight, we just constantly have to keep a watch on Coleman's progress and medical protocol. It makes me truly appreciate the bright moments and the moments where Coleman is able to be proud of his progress. And it reminds me how valuable your prayers are, even more when things seem to start to go our way.
We did get a new bed for Coleman today. Betty's sister was just released from the hospital and she'll be caring for her at home now so they need the bed back. As in most things, the timing was great because Jeff ran out and we got a great fouton that is bigger, and he feels like he's a king in it. The better part is that its just another piece of progress for him and our den now looks less...clinical.
At the end of a day like this I finally sit down and am so glad for the lyrics my dear friend penned when she was navigating a similar stretch of life. They are thankfully new to me again today.
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry you, my child, my child
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry you, my child, my child
Cuz I can walk on water
And calm a restless sea
I've done a thousand things you've never done
And I'm weary watchin'
While you struggle on your own
Call my name, I'll come
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry you, my child, my child
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry you, my child, my child
I give vision to the blind
And I can raise the dead
I've seen the darker side of Hell
And I returned
And I see those sleepless nights
And count every tear you cry
Some lessons hurt to learn
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry you, my child, my child
Lay down your burden, I will carry you
I will carry carry, my child, my child
