Coleman was back in action today - ankle much better and back in the bounce of things. In some ways he seems to be at a physical and cognitive plateau and we're waiting patiently for the next good surge of progress.
He and I talked several times today and the future and it wasn't one of those days where he was sparked and interested in the future. He was feeling sad and on those days I have learned to shelf my expectations and just love him...try to stay positive, which can be tough and just love him.
The four of us sat at the deck table for dinner tonight which is the second time and Coleman felt a part of the family. The boys are so enthralled by their dad's stories from work. Jeff has this ability to make the most mundane of events into a story that has us all laughing out loud. His sense of humor is so good for Coleman and Spen. Tonight was no exception and he had us in stitches. Speaking of dinner, we were able to sit and enjoy our time together because KCR is a fine cook and delivered the most amazing meal - the chicken salad is all mine, I've got it on lock down and Coleman ate potatoes and some corn from Grammy Norma's garden stash. I never cease to be amazed and how food can be such a form of hospitality and help. I owe a lot of women a lot of meals. And thanks to Terri for bringing breakfast by - a great wake up call for Coleman.
Lights out for tonight, I have an early morning meeting and forgot how to set my alarm, wash my hair and wear a blouse with buttons!
